This is a six-month practical recurrent education program designed to foster the creation of added value for local businesses and revitalize the region. In the program, key talent from metropolitan areas is recruited as visiting researchers at Eikei University of Hiroshima, and they are matched with companies in Hiroshima Prefecture that are driving change for the future to work together to solve the management challenges these companies face.
Program Overview
Visiting researchers participating in the Hiroshima Value Shift Program spend four days a week working at local companies to identify, resolve and provide support for management issues, and one day a week receiving seminar and workshop-style instruction from university faculty members on campus.
Through seminars, lectures and workshops offered by faculty members, the university provides visiting researchers with new learnings about their specialized fields and the local community, while also offering guidance and advice aimed at resolving the management challenges faced by host companies. At the final presentation session to be held six months later, visiting researchers present the results of their efforts to address management challenges at their host companies.
Furthermore, following the program’s conclusion, collaboration with a host company may continue—such as full-time employment or a contract for services—through consultation with the company.
For visiting researchers, this program serves as a practical setting where they can apply the skills and experience they have cultivated to solve challenges faced by local companies while gaining cross-disciplinary practical experience as a “visiting researcher” at the university. For companies, the program offers significant benefits beyond simply resolving immediate management challenges, including the professional growth of internal staff through collaboration and the establishment of a direction for management transformation.
