On Sunday, October 18, 2026, nine international students from our university participated in the Autumn Festival hosted by the Yoshijima-Higashi Neighborhood Association in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City.
During the festival, the students joined in carrying a traditional mikoshi (portable shrine) through the neighborhood and experienced the lively atmosphere of a Japanese autumn festival. They also enjoyed taking part in mochi-maki (rice cake tossing) and had the opportunity to interact with local residents.
The students shared lunch with members of the community and received warm hospitality throughout the day. They were also given handmade zori sandals as souvenirs. The festival provided a valuable opportunity for the students to learn more about Japanese culture and local traditions.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the members of the Yoshijima-Higashi Neighborhood Association for providing such a wonderful cultural experience for our students.
