Joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) in April 1990; later assigned to a venture capital firm in Silicon Valley; left the ministry in March 2000.

Founded ACCA Networks Co., Ltd.; served as Executive Vice President; contributed to the development of Japan’s Internet infrastructure through the telecommunications business. The company was listed in 2005; stepped down in March 2008.

Elected Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture in November 2009; served four consecutive terms over 16 years.

Massage

As globalization advances, the challenges that the society is facing have become increasingly complex. Addressing these challenges requires more than a single area of knowledge or skill; it demands a diverse range of expertise and interdisciplinary capabilities.

At the same time, as specialization deepens, knowledge domains tend to become increasingly fragmented, and collaboration across disciplines does not necessarily occur automatically.

I hope that students at EIKEI University will grow into next-generation leaders who can tackle these complex real-world challenges by integrating diverse knowledge and skills.
