Choosing a University by First Looking Abroad—Even Without a Clear Future Dream
Before entering Eikei University of Hiroshima, I didn’t have a concrete vision for my future. However, after experiencing a study‑abroad program in high school, I developed a strong interest in the wider world and held a vague desire to “help people overseas who are facing difficulties.”
Alongside this, I knew I wanted to engage with people and society, and to become someone who could positively influence others’ actions and ways of thinking. With this in mind, I began searching for a university. I was drawn to the environment at Eikei University of Hiroshima, where students can learn through practical experiences while being exposed to diverse perspectives.
What especially appealed to me was the combination of having many international students, a curriculum that requires overseas experience, and opportunities to engage with local communities and society—offering insights that cannot be gained through classroom learning alone.
I felt that in such an environment, I would be able to develop the ability to think and act independently. With that conviction, I decided to enroll at Eikei University of Hiroshima.

Facing Challenges in Hiroshima’s Tourism Industry — Discovering the Joy of Strategy
The vague desire I once had—to “help people overseas”—gradually shifted during my university years into a stronger wish to contribute to my hometown of Hiroshima.
Through repeated exercises in identifying and addressing social issues, I became more aware of the themes and fields I cared about, and the areas I wanted to explore in the future.
In the Project-Based Learning (PBL) courses at Eikei University of Hiroshima, students work on real themes presented by local companies, engaging in everything from defining the core problem to proposing solutions.
In my project, I examined changes in tourist behavior within Hiroshima’s tourism industry and explored potential initiatives tailored to local characteristics and target groups. As I conducted research—analyzing demographic trends, the surrounding environment, and existing policies—I realized that Hiroshima faces many challenges that require collective, region‑wide efforts.
Through these experiences, I came to appreciate the appeal of Strategy—developing flexible, well‑grounded approaches based on thorough research and analysis. This deepened my interest in pursuing work related to solving issues in Hiroshima.

Supporting My Hometown Hiroshima as a “Regional Consultant”
As I learned about regional issues during my time at Eikei University of Hiroshima, my desire grew not only to understand these challenges, but also to engage directly with communities and contribute to solving them.
For this reason, I will pursue a career as a regional consultant after graduation—work that involves proposing and supporting solutions for the diverse challenges faced by local governments and local businesses through research and analysis.
By applying Strategy—the ability to grasp situations from a broad perspective, identify core issues, and design feasible solutions—which I cultivated at Eikei University of Hiroshima, I hope to continue supporting my hometown of Hiroshima in a meaningful way.

Message to Prospective Students and Juniors
To all future students: I encourage you to actively take on challenges that spark your interest.
I did not have a clear goal at the beginning. But as I engaged in classes and extracurricular activities, new interests gradually emerged. By taking action on those interests—rather than leaving them as vague curiosities—and staying involved proactively, I encountered many valuable experiences and met people who ultimately shaped my future path.
The four years you spend at university, including your failures, will all become precious experiences.
Please challenge yourself in many different ways and build a foundation of experiences that will support your future.
