We Have Potential

As a high school student, I didn’t have a specific dream, but I did have a strong desire: “to shine wherever I’m meant to be and bring happiness to those around me”. Around that time, my father introduced me to Eikei University of Hiroshima. I found a connection between the university and the books we had at home, as well as the conversations we often shared. I became convinced that this was a place where I could gain practical and future-oriented learning, and I decided to enroll.

My studies and experiences at university brought about a significant transformation in my mindset and aspirations. Before classes even began, I appeared on a local government TV program and declared, “I’m going to start a business.” Guided by the value of “action first,” I took on challenges step by step. Having been one of the earliest students to show interest in Eikei University of Hiroshima and attend every information session, I felt a strong sense of responsibility as a first-generation student and a desire to leave hope for future students. One of the most pivotal moments was taking Dean Toshiyuki Yasui’s class. There, I encountered concepts like systems thinking × design thinking, and well-being, and even had the opportunity to serve as a co-facilitator in the course. These experiences and connections have led to my current involvement with Japan’s Digital Agency.

Moving forward, I want to apply the perspectives I gained through liberal arts and  systems thinking × design thinking to continuously ask what the core issues are and become someone who can respond flexibly to societal needs. Because Eikei University is still young, I also hope to contribute to strengthening the “support systems for learning” for future students.

To my juniors, I want to share this message: Be ready to say “Yes” when opportunities come your way. Experiences in youth become lifelong assets. Serendipity—the ability to discover unexpected things—only happens when you take action. Everything begins with that first step.
