【Degree Project】Project Start Workshop was held

On Thursday, October 2 and Friday, October 3, 2025, we held the “Project Start Workshop”, for third-year students.
This workshop is a kick-off event for the “Degree Project” , which students will undertake in their fourth year.

In the “Degree Project”, students set their own themes as a culmination of their learning at Eikei University of Hiroshima. They aim to identify key issues and develop solutions through research-based, hands-on work, supported by faculty in a seminar-style format.
Two presentation sessions are held during the project, where external stakeholders such as companies and government officials are invited to provide feedback on each student’s research from perspectives such as originality and feasibility.
Based on this feedback, students compile a final report and present their outcomes in a public presentation.

Overview and Formulating a question Session

At the beginning of the workshop, Associate Professor Nakajima Motohiro provided an overview of the entire program, followed by a lecture from Associate Professor KASPAREK Nick .
After the lecture, students participated in group work in a small-group format, with one faculty member assigned to each group.
Through this session, students learned skills for formulating meaningful questions, discovered their strengths and areas of interest, and had a valuable opportunity to deeply reflect on their own project themes.

Faculty Introduction Poster Session

Following the Formulating a question Session , a Faculty Introduction Poster Session was held.
Each faculty member introduced their area of expertise and research interests, engaging in dialogue with students as they explained their work.

One-to-One Meetings

After the poster session, students had the opportunity to meet individually with faculty members to discuss their project themes.
Through these one-on-one consultations, students gained valuable insights and began refining their ideas for their upcoming Degree Project.

Upcoming Process

In the fall semester of their third year, students will decide on a proposed theme for their project and submit a request to be assigned a supervising faculty member.
Once the supervisor is confirmed, students will begin working on their Degree Project under the guidance of that faculty member.
