1月23日（金）に、 オックスフォード大学日本事務所代表ビール・アリソン様をお招きし、「Japan’s Biodiversity: a perspective from the UK (日本の生物多様性：英国からの視点)」をテーマに、イブニングラウンジを開催します。直接お話をお伺いできる貴重な機会になりますので、学生の皆さん、ぜひご参加ください！

| 講演タイトル | Japan’s Biodiversity: a perspective from the UK |
| 講演概要 | Japan is beautiful! It is also a major global biodiversity hotspot with a landmass stretching over 3,000 km and a large range of endemic species. In this talk Ms. BEALE Alison, Director of the University of Oxford Japan Office, will talk about her own experiences exploring the wildlife and natural history of Japan, as well as introducing how the University of Oxford is working to map and conserve Japan’s precious plants. She will also talk about the University of Oxford’s commitment to enhancing biodiversity across its spaces and describe what universities and students can do to help support biodiversity activities. This talk will be in accessible English, include many photos and is aimed at both Japanese and international students. |
| 略歴 | After graduating from the University of Oxford she first came to Japan on the JET Programme before embarking on a career in international cultural relations principally with the British Council, holding senior posts in Japan, Trinidad and Tobago and China. She also obtained a Masters in Advanced Japanese Studies from the University of Sheffield. In her current role with the University of Oxford she develops links and partnerships for the University with businesses, foundations, alumni and media in Japan. She holds voluntary positions as Executive Director of the Japan-British Society, and is on the Board of the New National Theatre Tokyo and the Inamori Foundation. Until April 2025 she was Vice-President of the British Chaber of Commerce in Japan. |
