{"id":2384,"date":"2025-09-19T13:58:25","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T04:58:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eikei.ac.jp\/english\/?page_id=2384"},"modified":"2026-01-09T17:06:34","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T08:06:34","slug":"class-suspension","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/eikei.ac.jp\/english\/life\/class-suspension\/","title":{"rendered":"Handling of classes during typhoons or other emergencies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>     In cases where the risk of a major disaster is significantly heightened, such as the approach of a typhoon, suspension of public transportation, or other unforeseen circumstances, we have established the following guidelines for the handling of classes (including final exams; hereinafter referred to as &#8220;classes&#8221;) when it becomes difficult to conduct them. In the event of class cancellations during emergencies, notifications will be made via bulletin boards, email, MyEikei, campus broadcasts, and other means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\n    <a href=\" https:\/\/eikei.ac.jp\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/11\/Handling-of-classes-during-typhoons-or-other-emergencies.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"button is-pdf\">\n        Handling of classes during typhoons or other emergencies    <\/a>\n<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-flexible-table-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th>Class Suspension Due to Severe Weather<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>\u2474\u3000 Suspension of Classes Due to the Issuance of a Storm Warning or Other Emergency Alert<br>If the Hiroshima Regional Meteorological Observatory issues any of the following warnings for any ward within Hiroshima City: &#8220;Storm Warning\uff08\u66b4\u98a8\u8b66\u5831\uff09,&#8221; &#8220;Heavy Rain Warning\uff08\u5927\u96e8\u8b66\u5831\uff09,&#8221; &#8220;Snowstorm Warning\uff08\u66b4\u98a8\u96ea\u8b66\u5831\uff09,&#8221; &#8220;Emergency Warning\uff08\u7279\u5225\u8b66\u5831\uff09,&#8221; &#8220;Tsunami Warning\uff08\u6d25\u6ce2\u8b66\u5831\uff09,&#8221; or &#8220;Major Tsunami Warning\uff08\u5927\u6d25\u6ce2\u8b66\u5831\uff09,&#8221; the following class cancellation measures will be implemented.<br>\u203b Note that classes will not be canceled if only a &#8220;Heavy Rain Warning\uff08\u5927\u96e8\u8b66\u5831\uff09&#8221; is issued.<br>\u2460 If a warning is in effect at 7:00 AM, or issued between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM (the start of classes), morning classes on that day will be canceled<br>\u2461 If an alert is in effect at 10:00 AM, afternoon classes on that day will be canceled.<br>\u2462 If the warning is issued after classes have begun, classes scheduled to start thereafter will be canceled.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;However, if an &#8221; Emergency Warning\uff08\u7279\u5225\u8b66\u5831\uff09,&#8221; &#8220;Tsunami Warning\uff08\u6d25\u6ce2\u8b66\u5831\uff09,&#8221; or &#8220;Major Tsunami Warning\uff08\u5927\u6d25\u6ce2\u8b66\u5831\uff09&#8221; is issued, classes will be canceled immediately.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u2475\u3000 Cancellation measures due to evacuation instruction\uff08\u907f\u96e3\u6307\u793a\uff09<br>If the City of Hiroshima issues an &#8220;evacuation instruction (emergency)&#8221; for the campus location, the procedures for &#8221; Emergency Warning\uff08\u7279\u5225\u8b66\u5831\uff09,&#8221; &#8221; Tsunami Warning\uff08\u6d25\u6ce2\u8b66\u5831\uff09,&#8221; or &#8221; Major Tsunami Warning\uff08\u5927\u6d25\u6ce2\u8b66\u5831\uff09&#8221; under Section A shall apply.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u2476\u3000Class Cancellation Measures Due to Suspension of Public Transportation<br>If Hiroshima Electric Railway\uff08\u5e83\u5cf6\u96fb\u9244\uff09 trains (Lines 1, 2, and 6) or all JR Hiroshima Station-bound conventional lines cease operations (including cases where the suspension is announced), the following class cancellation measures will be implemented.<br>\u2460 If operations are suspended at 7:00 AM or suspended between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM (the start of classes), morning classes on that day will be canceled.<br>\u2461 If operations are suspended by 10:00 AM, afternoon classes on that day will be canceled.<br>\u2462 If operations are suspended after classes have begun, all subsequent classes will be canceled.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u2477\u3000Class Cancellation Measures in the Event of an Earthquake<br>If an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 5-Upper or more\uff08\u9707\u5ea6\uff15\u5f37\uff09 occurs in the Naka Ward of Hiroshima City, the following class cancellation measures will be implemented.<br>\u2460 If the earthquake occurs by 11:59 P.M., classes on the following day will be canceled .<br>\u2461 If the earthquake occurs between midnight (12:00 A.M.) and the start of classes, all classes for that day will be canceled.<br>\u2462 If the earthquake occurs after classes have begun, classes will be canceled immediately.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u2478\u3000Fieldwork and Off-Campus Activities<br>For internship programs or other experiential learning activities (Experiential and Practical Programs, Project-Based Learning) students must follow the instructions of the on-site supervisior.
