From September 29 (Mon.) to October 3 (Fri.), Eikei University held the Jump Start Workshop (JSW) for newly admitted students of the Autumn 2025 intake.
This week-long program was designed to help first-year students start their university life smoothly and meaningfully.
In addition to various orientation sessions, students took two introductory courses: Introduction to Social System Design and Introduction to Project Based Learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General Orientation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The orientation program began with a welcome speech by President ARINOBU Mutsuhiro<\/a> , followed by an interactive workshop led by Associate Professor SEKO Motoko<\/a> titled \u201cHen-ai Map<\/em>.\u201d
Through sharing their personal interests, students got to know each other and deepened their understanding of diversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dean ISHIKAWA Masanobu<\/a> and Course Chair KAWASE Maki<\/a> also gave welcoming remarks, and students received guidance on the curriculum and course registration as they took their first steps as Eikei students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your Digital Campus Guide<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the first afternoon, Professor TSUCHIMOTO Yasuo<\/a> conducted a session titled \u201cYour Digital Campus Guide.<\/em>\u201d
Eikei University places great emphasis on the Development of Digital Literacy and Thinking Skills<\/a> , which include ICT, Data Science, Logical Thinking, Design Thinking, and Systems Thinking.
To help students acquire skills essential in an era of IoT and AI, the university has established its own network environment and has adopted a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy since its founding. Each student participates in classes using their own device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Introduction to Social System Design<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An introductory class on Social System Design, the core of Eikei University\u2019s academic philosophy, was also held.
In this course, taught by Professor YASUI Toshiyuki<\/a>, students attended seven sessions to learn the fundamental concepts of Social System Design (SSD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
