On Thursday, October 3 and Friday, October 4, 2024,  \u201cProject Start Workshop\u201d was held for third-year students.
\nThis workshop is a kick-off event for the \u201cDegree Project<\/a>” that students will undertake in their fourth year.<\/p>\n

In the ‘Degree Project,’ as a culmination of their studies at Eikei University of Hiroshima, students set their own themes, identify problems for inquiry, and formulate solutions. Their research on individual degree project themes is conducted in a seminar format, with faculty members providing guidance throughout the process. At the two scheduled reporting sessions, interim and final, stakeholders from businesses, government, and other external organizations are invited as evaluators to provide feedback on each research project from perspectives such as novelty and feasibility. Based on this feedback, students then compile a report and present their results in a public presentation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Dean Yasui began by explaining the significance and purpose of the Degree project, and advised students to deepen their ideas by engaging in dialogue with as many faculty members as possible during this workshop.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Session by Associate Professor KASPAREK Nick<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\n

First, Associate Professor KASPAREK Nick<\/a> led a session on \u201cFormulating a Question,\u201d explaining how to begin research.<\/p>\n

The students actively wrote down ideas and information related to their themes, shared them with the group, and asked each other questions from various perspectives, and in this way they were able to find the central question that would form the basis of their degree projects.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

After the \u201cQuestion Formulation Session”, there was a poster session where the teachers introduced themselves, explaining their areas of expertise, research fields, and how to support students’ projects.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
