Although I sensed that <em>\u201cJapan is not well known overseas,\u201d<\/em> I could not clearly identify what the challenge was\u2014whether it was the language, traditional crafts, food culture, or something else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I began looking for a university even though I still didn\u2019t know exactly what I wanted to specialize in. I felt that choosing a narrowly defined major too early might limit my future possibilities, so I sought an education rooted in <a href=\"https:\/\/eikei.ac.jp\/english\/academics\/feature\/liberal_arts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">liberal arts<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Eikei University of Hiroshima\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/eikei.ac.jp\/english\/academics\/outline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Faculty of Social System Design<\/a>, I felt I would not be confined to a single specialized field. Instead, I could first discover the areas that truly interest me and then deepen my learning from there. That confidence led me to choose this university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eikei.ac.jp\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/11A4475-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12923\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eikei.ac.jp\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Image-11-5-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12921\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Discovering \u201cAlcohol\u201d as a Tool for Sharing Japanese Culture Through Hands-On Experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Through a Domestic Internship Program in the <a href=\"https:\/\/eikei.ac.jp\/english\/academics\/feature\/practice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Experiential and Practical Programs<\/a>, I interned at a craft gin distillery in Fukushima Prefecture. It was there that I became interested in the field of <em>alcohol<\/em>, and I found a theme that I wanted to pursue in order to \u201cshare Japan\u2019s unique culture\u201d with the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alcohol is loved globally as a beverage of enjoyment, and it carries many layers of appeal\u2014craftsmanship, the passion of its makers, and the stories and cultural backgrounds embedded in its creation. Inspired by what I learned during the internship, I chose this theme for my <a href=\"https:\/\/eikei.ac.jp\/english\/academics\/feature\/degree_project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Degree Project<\/a>. As a result, I was able to achieve the goal I had set before entering university: to help spread Japanese culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What had once been a vague sense of \u201cJapan\u2019s cultural challenges\u201d became something I could define clearly, analyze academically, and ultimately propose solutions for. Being able to shape my ideas through my university learning and carry them through to completion was an experience that brought me a strong sense of accomplishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eikei.ac.jp\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Image-9-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12919\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eikei.ac.jp\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Image-10-6-577x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12920\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Message to Prospective Students and Juniors<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>English is a tool that will undoubtedly expand your perspective. At Eikei University of Hiroshima\u2014and even beyond campus\u2014your English skills will always support you whenever you take on new challenges. If you are interested in learning a third language, I encourage you to see it as your first step toward going abroad. By learning a language other than English, you will deepen your understanding of different countries and cultures. It will also allow you to make use of the global mindset you have developed through English\u2014and may even help you find English more enjoyable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eikei University of Hiroshima is a place where you can explore new stages for personal growth while thinking on a global scale.
