I wanted to think about things from a broader perspective and connect with people from diverse backgrounds. While searching for such an environment, I discovered Eikei University of Hiroshima.

The opportunity to learn across disciplines beyond the boundaries of the humanities and sciences, the practical learning offered through Project-Based Learning (PBL), and the campus where I could interact with international students on a daily basis—all of these elements created the ideal environment for the active, self‑driven university life I had been seeking.

Realizing How Narrow My Perspective Was—A Lesson Learned in the Mountains of the Philippines

One of the most memorable learning experiences during my time at Eikei University of Hiroshima was the overseas volunteer program offered through the Experiential and Practical Programs. I visited an elementary and junior high school located deep in the mountains of the Philippines, where I encountered ways of life, cultural norms, and educational environments completely different from those in Japan.
Everything was surprising, but at the same time, it made me realize just how narrow my perspective had been.

Stepping into an unfamiliar world and continuing to engage with local people—even when I felt uncertain—greatly strengthened my Energetic drive, one of the five competencies emphasized at Eikei University of Hiroshima. This experience sparked my interest in many different fields and gave me the confidence to dive into anything that caught my attention without hesitation.

Eikei University of Hiroshima is full of peers who take initiative and act boldly.
